Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want their deal for England international Ross Barkley completed before they leave for their USA tour next week.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino is supposedly a huge admirer of Barkley and believes he has the ability to take his game to the next level. Everton are demanding £50 million for the playmaker, whereas Tottenham are only willing to pay half the price for his signature.
Barkley was not included in Everton’s pre-season tour in Tanzania, although he has been ruled out through ‘injury’. The midfielder has rejected several contract renewals by Ronald Koeman and is said to be holding out a move to North London according to the Mirror. Spurs are keen to get Barkley on board before they travel to the US on Wednesday, where negotiations will have to move swiftly if they want to finalise the deal before then.
The Toffees are willing to negotiate as they want to bring in former Tottenham player Gylfi Sigurdsson to the blue side of Merseyside, and the departure of Ross Barkley will bring in the money to meet Swansea’s hefty asking price.
